Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church were in dialogue for approximately one year about a possible consolidation, then formed “Dream Teams” to explore what we could accomplish together. On June 7, 2015 each congregation adopted the proposal to consolidate by an overwhelming margin. After much work and preparation, Spirit Lutheran was born on November 1, 2015 with Rev. Amy Odgren serving a one-year term as our founding Pastor.
A consultant was hired to facilitate a survey of the members to determine how we would successfully move forward together. There were several key sentiments brought forward and after much deliberation, a new Mission Statement was created, “A Caring Christian Community Connecting Faith and Life by Knowing God, Loving One Another, and Sharing our Gifts.”
The First Lutheran facility was subsequently sold in January of 2016 to the Boy’s and Girl’s club, a local non-profit, and the Spirit settled into the Our Savior’s facility. The proceeds from the sale of the old First Lutheran facility, are set aside for building a future new facility or remodeling the current facility to meet our growth needs.
