Director of Faith Formation with emphasis on first third of life



  • Degree and/or certificate in children, youth and family ministries preferred OR

a minimum of 3-5 years experience in children, youth, and family ministries 


  • Maintains a strong relationship with God and a willingness to progress in that relationship
  •  Endorses and supports the mission statement of Spirit Lutheran 
  • Demonstrates a strong desire and passion to nurture children, youth, and families in their faith

Desired Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proficient with a variety of technology and media resources 
  • Ability to delegate tasks while recognizing individual’s strengths and gifts 
  • Remains self-motivated in a team environment or individually
  • Awareness of age appropriate curriculum and activities 
  • Manages projects in a logistical manner from beginning to end
  • Demonstrates an open mind and willingness to try new ideas


Project management

Partner with the Faith Formation Team to:

  • Create inclusive, multigenerational ministry using new ideas and feedback 
  • Partner with other churches and community organizations to host events 
  • Develop and continue to grow Spirit’s high school and middle school ministry
  • Construct communication channels to share events and opportunities among mission teams, council, and the congregation as needed

Training, Teaching:

  • Train teachers and volunteers 
  • Equip and mentor teachers to lead children, youth, and families in faith-based activities 
  • Attend professional development events or sessions


  • Attend Faith Formation meetings
  • Maintain availability for youth and others through email, office hours, etc. 
  • Work in conjunction with Faith Formation to develop an annual budget
  • Prepare an annual report in partnership with the Faith Formation team

HOURS: ​ ​40  

REPORTS TO: ​Lead Pastor 

COMPENSATION: ​$32,000-$40,000
