Sunday Morning Worship Services
Spirit Lutheran utilizes two primary forms of formal worship for Sunday mornings. The 8:30 a.m. worship service follows the Traditional style of music using pipe organ and/or piano while our Modern Worship Team provides music and leadership for the worship service held at 10:30 a.m.
Traditional Worship: 8:30 a.m.
Our Traditional worship service uses the Evangelical Lutheran Worship book, published by Augsburg Fortress, as its primary source of hymns and liturgy. The worship service is led by the pastor and involves a generous amount of congregational participation. The hymns used are a wide variety striking a balance between old, familiar tunes and new settings of old texts. To enrich Traditional worship, our Adult Choir and Children's Choir frequently share their gift of music. Spirit Lutheran leadership makes every effort to vary the hymns and music so that our worship is "fresh" each time we meet. The text of hymns, Scripture, prayers and responses may be viewed on the projection screen up at the front of the sanctuary, and hard copies of the Evangelical Lutheran Worship are also placed in the pews so that you may read the music if you choose to do so.
Contemporary/Band-led Worship: 10:30 a.m.
Spirit Lutheran’s Modern Worship Band provides pop, rock, and other sub-genres of contemporary music for worship. The full band is comprised of vocalists and instrumentalists on guitar, piano, drums, and bass. All musicians in the band gather together to praise God’s name in contemporary musical form. The goal of the band is to praise our Lord, share the talents of its members, and provide music that is memorable and appealing to a variety of age groups. The group is constantly adding new music to its repertoire and experimenting with new sounds and styles. Because its individual members have a very wide musical background, the sound of the band is also constantly shifting. Many of the songs performed are fresh to the Christian music charts, whereas others are modern-day styles of traditional hymns.
***Holy Communion is served at every worship service and is open and available to all.
